Mohamed Sedki

Artist Mohamed Sedki, whose real name was Mohamed Ibrahim al-Awami, was born in Benghazi in 1929. He was discovered by poet Abdessalam Qadarbouh in 1959 and introduced by musician Hassan Areibi on Libyan Radio with the song "Kayf Nawsifak lil-Nas wa Anta Aali", after which he went on to record more than four hundred songs. He founded a record company through which he released work by himself and by Libyan and Arab artists such as Faiza Ahmed and Houria Hassan, and he established a religious chanting troupe that joined the radio's ensembles in 1968. He died in Benghazi in 1994.

الفنان محمد صدقي، واسمه الحقيقي محمد إبراهيم العوامي، من مواليد بنغازي عام 1929. اكتشفه الشاعر عبد السلام قادربوه عام 1959 وقدمه الموسيقار حسن عريبي عبر الإذاعة الليبية بأغنية (كيف نوصفك للناس وأنت عالي)، وغنى بعدها أكثر من أربعمائة أغنية. أسس شركة أسطوانات قدم من خلالها أعمالا لنفسه ولفنانين ليبيين وعرب مثل فائزة أحمد وحورية حسن، وأسس فرقة إنشاد ديني انضمت إلى فرق الإذاعة عام 1968. توفي في بنغازي عام 1994.
