Khairia Mabrouk

Khairia Mabrouk, whose full name was Khairia al-Mabrouk Faraj, was a Libyan singer who joined Libyan Radio in Benghazi in the late 1950s, becoming with the artist Fawzia Mahmoud one of the first women to enter Libyan Radio. The musician Ali al-Sha'aliya took up her talent, composed most of her songs and oversaw her musical education, and her voice was described as a rare golden voice. She was married and came to the radio station wearing her traditional Arab dress, which at the time was a challenge to the customs and traditions of society. Her artistic career did not last long: it stopped about a year and a half after she joined the radio for family reasons, having recorded a number of Libyan folk songs, the best known being 'Khudh al-Nasiha', composed by Ali al-Sha'aliya.

خيرية المبروك مطربة ليبية اسمها الكامل خيرية المبروك فرج، التحقت بالإذاعة الليبية في بنغازي في أواخر الخمسينيات لتكون مع الفنانة فوزية محمود أول العناصر النسائية التي تدخل الإذاعة الليبية. احتضن موهبتها الموسيقار علي الشعالية فلحّن أغلب أغانيها وتولى تثقيفها موسيقياً، ووُصف صوتها بأنه صوت ذهبي فريد. كانت متزوجة وتأتي إلى الإذاعة مرتدية لباسها العربي، وهو ما مثّل في ذلك الوقت تحدياً لعادات المجتمع وتقاليده. لم تستمر مسيرتها الفنية طويلاً إذ توقفت بعد نحو عام ونصف من التحاقها بالإذاعة لأسباب عائلية، بعد أن سجلت خلالها عدداً من الأغاني الشعبية الليبية أشهرها «خوذ النصيحة» من ألحان علي الشعالية.
