Fathi Al-Sour was a Libyan folk singer known by the nickname 'Ibn al-Sahra' (Son of the Desert) and one of the leading voices of marsakawi, the popular genre tied to Benghazi and eastern Libya. Born in the city of Misrata, he moved to Benghazi during the 1970s, where he became known for the genre and recorded his work. A melancholy tone dominated his songs even in the cheerful marsakawi forms, and his best-known works include 'Ibn al-Sahra', 'Mufariq Rida', 'Dallalatni Neen Aqli' and 'Jabad Khatri'. Libyan music audiences remember him among the pioneers of marsakawi alongside names such as Abdeljalil Abdelkader, Hamid Al-Kilani and Abdelhadi Skaba.
